Ntb/ merchants
To be honest. I worked for these companies for 5 years and even with the employees discounts its a rip off. They mark up prices 200 percent to make thier profit.. worst places to go for anything other than an alignment. Just try to rememberone thing if you do go to one of those stores is that the issie isnt the guys in the back doing the work but the front counter staff that is just trying to make a quick buck in your expense. Best bet go to a local independent shop. Thier more honest than the cooperation of @ssholes at ntb or merchants.

NTB -AWFUL PLACE
I bought 4 tires from them about 9 months ago, two months ago I had I fixed from a nail being in it. The next day my tire kept going flat on my way home from work, I live 30 miles from home, I had to stop several times to put air in it. Took it back to NTB on 110th St. in Kansas City, KS. Now, the same tire is flat, it will not hold air at all, so once again we went back, they told us the inside of the tire was falling apart, so I needed to pay the price of the tire since it was more now then it was 9 months ago, plus mounting and balancing amount. Never again will I go to NTB>

Wheel Alignment not done
I had went to NTB in waldorf maryland. I would say that it was the beginning of the worse mistake ever. I had went in to prepare my car for a coast to coast trip from Maryland to Washington State. I went to get an alignment, brakes, and a fluid exchange.paid a huge amount of money for the service. So they tech tells me that everything is said and done and I am able to get to my destination safely. LIES!! When I was out of maryland and hit Penn. I felt my car start to act weird. Shaking and when I made turns the wheel would go completely out of control... I had stopped multiple times on my trip to check the tires cuz it felt as if something was wrong but I ended up way to far to turn back. When I had hit Montana. Both front tires blew! I was stranded. I finally found a shop that was open on that sunday afternoon who was willing to help. The tech at that shop said the alignment was not done at all and completely ate the tires to the point you could see the wires from the inside.... I was pissed. He changed the tires and he said I will be able to make it to WA but it will be a lil dangerous because of the MT areas. The car was not safe enough for me to go up and down on but I was too far from an NTB to get them done but I knew that there were some in WA. I get to WA and I go out to get the alignment done and see if they could reinburse me for the tires the srewed up on... Couldnt find an NTB around. I go to 4 different locations and they tell me that Pep Boys had bought out Big O Tires... Now Im really pissed so now I had to pay another fee for the alignment to be done. I call NTB to let them know they slack in there work and my tires blew from the cause of there service not being done... They told me they would reinburse me for the 79.99 but not the $300 I spent on the tires because they tell me my tires were already bad so the alignment was not the cause of the tires being out so badly. So now Im going to call corporate and sue because of them I was in danger and stranded for a service I paid for. If my tires were all that bad then why did I make it as far as I did. If the alignment was done when it was needed I wouldnt be having this problem... Please!!! NEVER GO TO THEM. THEY ARE THE WORSE AND THEY CANT EVEN PAY YOU BACK FOR THE PROBLEMS AND TROUBLES THEY PUT YOU THROUGH... no good for real!!!

National tire & battery
Do not buy a battery at these places. You do not purchase a battery, you rent it. I paid 116.00 for a 5 year battery that went did in 2 years and 3 months. I was charged 46.00 to replace a battery that should have lasted 5 years. They said if the battery went dead in 2 years they would replace it free! what *** so every 2 years i'll have to replace that battery. I had to call aaa to have them come out and jump start my car. They checked the battery on the spot and said it had a bad cell. I missed a days work because of this.

Service fee rip off
Took my wife's 2009 Toyota Matrix in for new tires; the serviceman asked if I wanted the "o" rings on the TPMS sensors replaced. I asked how much; he said $10---I said sure. I was later given a bill for $45.99 EACH X 4 tires = $183.96; he did not mention that to replace the "o" rings they had to remove the sensors and do a "rebuild" of each (Replacing the air valve and stem! Whoopie!). I figure there was probably $5 of parts and 10 minutes of work in the $184 charge. This increased our bill 50% from $400 to $580; never again!

Poor Customer Service at NTB
I bought 4 tires from NTB in Independence, Mo. I 've had them rotated regularly but today I went in to get an opinion on the safety of my right front tire which had a cut of about 3/4 inch in between the raised section of tread. The first person who said he just started looked at the cut and said he thought it would be okay to drive on even after I explained I drive on winding two lane highways with lots of curves. I asked if he would put that in writing to which he said he couldn't and I should talk with the person in charge, Darryl? After waiting about ten minutes one of the tire techs came in and said he could put a plug in the cut but he wouldn't recommend it. After waiting a few more minutes the person in charge who had been dealing with another customer about overtightened lug nuts became available. However, he wouldn't even look up from the paper work he was doing as I explained the problem he just shook his head and said he didn't take trade ins. I attempted to explain I purchased the tires new from NTB and there was still 5/32 of tread wear left on the tires. I explained I was hoping to get some small credit for the tread wear in left on my tires toward a new set. He just kept looking down at the paper work and re-iterated he didn't take trade-ins. I walked out. His demeanor was INSENSITIVE, UNCARING AND RUDE. I can get this horrible treatment at any UNPROFESSIONAL tire dealer. I'm taking my business to Sears where customer service and professionalism is king.

Never again
I recently had my breaks and rotors changed. I had the same work done last year on the other axel for $100 less. The guy tried to up-sell a bunch of services, which is all part of sales but when I went to pick up my car there was a "˜Shop Fees' charge added onto my bill. When I asked about it, they guy immediately said that it was for grease and stuff like that and that he couldn't take it off. Easy cowboy! Let me ask you to remove it first. And the half off promotion is a joke. It maxes out at $70, have you ever had a car repair where half of it was $70?

National Tire Battery FORNEY, Texas
lonbg story short, just as my automotive service relationship with NTB.paid for a oil change i never received. I had to waste my valuable time in reconciling this issue, ultimate excuse was " wee forgot'.Numerous times I have been to the same location only to find myself disgusted with thier linear and irresponsible incompetence , lack of professionalism, and down right dishonesty. AFTER HAVING CONFRONTED several employees , stated themselves as the manager and receiving only we are sorry this happened, I find myself as a victim of this after market chain and wish to make known to the public of forney, tx . to beware of their incompetence. Another satisfied NTB customer ANOTHER SATISFIED NTB CUSTOMER

Buy 2 get 2 is a scam
The buy 2 get 2 tires is a scam they add on extra fees and you end u paying more for the tires than if you just bought all 4 without the sale just ask them to price the tires with no premium install and no alignment and you will see the difference this company is pure bait and switch there are no deals go to bruce brothers and you get a free alignment with the purchase of the same tire and save yourself a couple hundred dollars dont fall for ntb and their scam.bait and switch all the way

They refuse to fix my car and I contacted the BBB and still haven't heard anything from them. I guess to court we go......

NTB Bait and Switch
NTB had a great ad on TV - buy one tire, get one free as long as you come in before noon. I made it to the dealership by 10, waited in line almost 20 minutes and finally got to speak with a rep. We went through another 10 minutes of data entry while he set up my account, entered all of the information about my vehicle and selected the tires I had inquired about. He totaled up the purchase (all of the expected extras of balancing/hazard ins/alignment and such) and surprised me with a $900 amount - no discounts at all. This disappointed me so of course I asked why no discount and they said that there are no discounts on the Goodyear Eagle GT tires. They had one other tire that fit my car and qualified for the discount, but it was a brand that I had never heard of. He asked a coworker where the displays were of that tire so that he could show them to me, and the coworker immediately responded with "You don't want those tires, I sold them to someone with a BMW last week and they couldn't make it out of the parking lot because there was snow on the ground." I inquired about alternatives (either a discount on the Goodyears or some other tire), and the sales rep asked the manager for help. The manager explained that they only had two tires in stock that would fit my vehicle, and that the ones they recommend were only available at full price. Since there were several other NTB's nearby, he searched their inventory online to see if they had any other options. He said that there were no other options except special order, and that those would be full price only. At this point I gave up, deciding that wasting only 30 minutes and a gallon of gas was better than buying tires from these guys.

NTB National Tire &Battery Columbus, Ohio Billingsley location
I took my Honda CRV to NTB Billingskey Road location for oil change. After the oil change, NTB used larger size of drain plug which had broken my oil pan. I didn't know that until our recent oil change at Honda. Honda told us that we need a new oil pan. I called NTB, NTB said they had to change to a bigger size of screw because the previous oil change place changed my drain plug. NTB couldn't find the correct size. This is completely wrong because: (a). if that was the case, NTB should let me know like Honda did; but NTB didn't mention it to me at all. Instead, they spent a lot time trying to presuade me to order parts from Honda to fix a known Honda posted issue; (b). Even if like NTB said (which I serious doubt), the drain plug was replaced by my previous oil change place, it didn't mean that NTB had the right to break it more by using another bigger size screw without my permission; (c) the list NTB gave us to fix Honda posted issue were not correct. NTB listed more to fix than it suppose to be. This also leads us to think if what NTB is telling customers the truth. (d). I need an acceptable solution from NTB on this

Overcharged for tire the company ntb
i went to ntb to get a tire which i brought and after paying for the tire my recete stated 87.99 for tire 3.00 for tire disposal 26.99 charge for mounting service and then 1.62 for shop fees i dont think anyone should pay for mounting a brand new tire or the 1.62 for shop fees i think that is a rip off anywhere else if i brought the tire at my reguarly place which is turpin tire would have not charged that. in weatherford,tx also ntb has been runing sell on any size tire for 70.00 but i was told that the tire i needed did not contain to that price tire size was225****

Ntb overcharge on parts and labor mcmurray
I know for a fact that this company overcharges on parts they buy from advance and napa and carquest take the part and mark it up 5 times the cost say they buy brake pads from advance for 30 dollars they will charge you 150 dollars especially at the mcmurray location you could go to sear the dealer monroe midas or any other chain and there is no way you will be charged this much just call around and see and if you dont question them they will rake yoy now if you have some sense they may come down a little and every ntb charges different they have some racket there I know I worked there They will tell you they are premium parts watch for the local parts truck pull up and then ask them to see the parts they are putting on your car then call carquest napa and advance and see what that same part cost you please take my advice and dont get ripped off plus they basically give you no real warranty 12 monthes 12000 miles you can lifetime brakes most places and sears at least offers 18 monthes and they are alot less for the same brake pad wagner and advance or carquest just be careful these guys get huge bonuses you would not believe how much just to rip you off this ia a known fact and no matter what you come in for they will say something is wrong with your car their best is cracked brake pads just ask to see them and take them somewhere else I believe someday soon the attorney general will get involved believe me complain.and maybe someone will shut them down there parts are not worth what they sale them for and the manager at Mcmurray will basically tell you go to *** if you complain to him.so contact the attorney general or the motorists assurance progam.these guys are crooks I know from watching it for year and i cannot work for a compan that does that
